Dr Doreen Chandra

Doreen is an academic and a researcher of Fijian Indian descent in higher education, who has authored several publications in internationally referred journals. She is an author of a book titled “Reflections on science teaching in New Zealand schools” which was published in New York and is currently writing her second book on “Undergraduate research in New Zealand” for publication in 2022.
She brings with her 15 years of experience from university and private tertiary sectors, where she has held senior leadership and management roles. Doreen has been a director of an educational research consultancy business and has worked with New Zealand universities, NZQA and Ministry of Education through her projects. She is an active member of the Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association.
Doreen believes in transformative and sustainable education strategies for the future that creates equity and equal opportunities for participation of our local communities in the tertiary education sector. She is known for creating agile and high performing teams that are reflective and holistically outcome driven. She is currently undertaking a level 4 qualification in te reo Māori, which she is proud about.
